Leak along keel - Help required

Post by admin »

Hi Guys,

Can you please help me. My friend has a Dockrell 22. There is a small
leak along one of the keels. He
has no problem fixing it but would like to know if the keel is bolted
in place or is it glued. The boat has
a twin keel with a centre drop keel.
My friend lives in Galway West Ireland and is very keen to set sail
again. We would be very grateful for
any advice or information.

Kind regards

Eileen,

( on behalf of Michael Ridge, a proud Dockrell 22 owner )

For what it's worth if you mean the bilge keels, then on mine they are just screwed and sealed direct to the fibreglass. I was told by the previous owner that the 22 was really just a drop keel design with bilge plates added as an afterthought for those, like me, needing to take the mud. Hope this helps.
